It was a time when all things
evil began to darken even those hearts of hope that looked towards the
celestial door of heaven. A haunting
vapor of melancholy had curled its tendrils throughout the heavens, until the
misery of helplessness on the earth, once rich with life, left the brittle
bones of humanity crushed beyond despair.
Gnashing teeth and lashing
tongues spew out the blame across the lands as if it were confetti sprinkling
down amongst the remnants of a fallen ecosystem. Better late than never is a hallow phrase,
when there are no options at the end. It
may have been more prudent to remember we were only guests of Mother Earth - not her boss.
Too late.
She's in reboot mode.
To ashes she goes, moving in
her orbit about her star… one million, two million… millions of orbits as she
stews over what to brew up in her next era of life, if fate allows. She wants to get it right this
time around - to not rock her boat off its course by life that will not live as family with her other creatures.
It’s always worth a try,
but if she spawns an entity that evolves thinking it owns the world, well
then…
Heaven help us…
here we go again.

What a great time of the year

ReplyDelete...I wish you a Spooktacular Halloween.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, I love it! Perfect analogy and a cautionary tale all rolled into one. You picked the perfect illustrations too!
ReplyDeleteOooh, spookiness!
ReplyDeletePerhaps more of a prophesy than you think.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, Thank you for this poetic reminder of humanity's place on this Earth — not as rulers, but as humble guests. The haunting imagery of Mother Earth in “reboot mode” drives home the sobering realization that we’ve pushed her to a breaking point. This cosmic perspective, with Earth spinning endlessly, stewing on her next chapter, suggests both the resilience of nature and the tragic consequences of our own hubris. As you say, Heaven help us. John
ReplyDeleteI love the thoughts you have left here; I think and feel the same. Mother Earth does not need us humans as much as we need her. 😊
ReplyDeleteAll the best! Hugs. 💗
